Yesterday I took both of the boys for their well checkups at the pediatricians office. Travis was due for his 7 year old check up and Brody for his 18 month. One of the advantages of having their birthdays 6 months apart is that Brody's appointments sometimes coincide with Travis'. Everything seemed to check out ok for Travis--though he didn't do well on his hearing test the 1st time around but then passed with flying colors when they took him back the 2nd time. ;) The doctor is a little worried about Brody not being able to talk and he doesn't point to body parts yet. He still jabbers all the time but nothing makes any sense at all. I made him a hearing test with the ENT's office a few weeks ago but unfortunately their 1st available appointment wasn't until early July. I think he can't hear well from all of his ear infections/tubes etc but also it's good to rule that out. We also got the number of the county's program for kids that are delayed in talking so Brody can maybe be evaluated. It's good to try and nip it in the bud and get help ASAP. :) Here are the boys stats:
Travis:
51.25 inches 90-95%
64 pounds 65% (he used to be 90-95% here too but his ADHD meds have curbed his appetite)
Brody:
32 inches 25-50%
23 pounds 12 ounces 25%
Head 49cm 80%
Basically Travis is still a big kid for his age and Brody is still a peanut for his age. It's so funny how different they are! Just for fun here are Travis' stats at his 18 month appointment:
Travis 12/1/05:
34 inches 90%
30 pounds 9 ounces 93%
Head 49.5 cm 90%
Brody is the same weight now as Travis was at a little under 9 months! Wow! Brody's height is a little more than Travis was at 12 months but not by much! We shall see what happens in the future I guess! :)
