This year all of us particpated in the Cascades Fun Run. The race starts and ends right accross the street from our house and every year prior to this year we have just shown up to check out the firetrucks etc. Elise and Kelly signed up too so it was sure to be a good time. It turned out Joseph, Cal, Wendy, Cam and Greg were all running the 10K so it was nice to see other people we knew and cheer them on in the beginning of the 10K race. Once the fun run started Evan, Travis, Kelly and Elise all ran off--I walked since running and I don't get along with my bad knees. Both Kelly and Travis RAN THE WHOLE RACE! They finished in about 11 minutes-not too bad for 2 kids that have never really run for an extended period like that before. They both got special firefighter fun run medals for finishing the race-that was BIG news! :) After the race they have food (banannas, bagels and Outback steak and eggs) and various things for the kids to do. Eventually the 10k people started to finish the race and we saw Joseph finish! He said his time of about 53 minutes was probably a personal best for him--sounds good to me! We ended the time by letting the kids climb in and out of the firetrucks and the big event was watching them bring down the 2 ladders! I guess we will make the run a yearly tradition!
